Position: Furniture Fabricator

This opportunity is for a full time position with Mitchell Bink Concrete Design. 

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, self-motivated applicant who is willing to learn, has a very strong eye for detail and is proactive.

Skills/Experience

We understand that producing custom furniture is a very rare trade, especially in Canberra, so we do not expect our applicants to have this experience. The position is ideal for someone who is willing to work with their hands, keen to work hard and has high attention to detail.

Qualifications/Training

  • Must have experience with power tools
  • Asbestos and White Card
  • Experience in stone masonry, polishing and/or cabinet making is preferred but not essential 
  • Assisting the director and other staff with all work tasks;
  • Follow direction and instruction from the director whilst also using initiative;
  • Making and preparing moulds for production;
  • Weighing out of specialised concrete mix;
  • Pouring and hand packing concrete into moulds;
  • Polishing and finishing pieces;
  • Creating concrete pieces (table tops etc.) from start to finish;
  • Take initiative to seek work when not instructed;
  • Assist with delivery and installations (including minimal interstate travel);
  • Stock control;
  • Maintaining an organised and clean work environment;
  • Performing manual handling and lifting tasks;
  • Safely use power tools and mixing equipment;
  • Have a strong eye for detail;
  • Have the ability to work unsupervised;
  • Have good knowledge of safe working principles;
  • Be willing to work hard; and
  • Have a drivers licence.

All tools and equipment will be provided by Mitchell Bink Concrete Design.

Position: Cabinet/Mould Maker

This opportunity is for a full time position with Mitchell Bink Concrete Design. 

Your role will be to create one-off custom mouldings using melamine board/cabinet making materials that will construct the concrete into the desired shape. The position is ideal for someone who is wanting to move away from production line/repetitive work within the cabinetry/joinery field.

There is further opportunity to work in other aspects of the process including furniture construction, casting, polishing, sealing and installation. 

We understand this is a unique position, so we only require you to bring your cabinet making experience and we will teach you the rest. 

We are looking for the successful applicant to start as soon as possible, be reliable, hardworking, self-motivated, willing to learn, have a very strong eye for detail and be proactive.

Skills/Experience

  • Experience with power tools
  • Experience in cabinet making (no qualification required) 
  • Ability to work in a small team 
  • Ability to use panel saw safely 
  • Ability to understand plans and measurements

All tools and equipment will be provided by Mitchell Bink Concrete Design.
